Boyne & Williamson (1889) reference London number 709; Obv inscription: ROB.FORDE.GROCER (around field, in Roman capitals) Device = A mermaid (in field); Rev inscription: IN.COLEMAN.STREET (around field, in Roman capitals) Device = R.F. (in field, in Roman capitals).
'Mr Ford, grocer of Coleman Street, against London Wall, died ex peste', 20 Jan. 1666 (The obituary of Richard Smyth, Secondary of the Poultry Compter, London, being a Catalogue of all such Persons as he knew in their Life, extending from A.D. 1627 to A.D. 1674, ed.
