The Sun
Thomas Cowly issued this trade token, worth a half penny, for his business in Chick Lane, West Smithfield (area now part of Charterhouse Street).
Boyne & Williamson (1889) reference London number 607; Obv inscription: THOMAS.COWLY.IN.CHICK (around field, in Roman capitals) Device = A sun (in splendour); Rev inscription: LANE.HIS.HALF.PENY.1666 (around field, in Roman capitals) Device = T.M.C as a monogram.
