The Black Boy
This trade token, worth a farthing, was issued at the Black Boy tavern, in Cheapside.
Boyne & Williamson (1889) reference London number 600; Obv inscription: AT.THE.BLAKE.BOY (around field, in Roman capitals) Device = A boy holding a staff (in field); Rev inscription: IN.CHEPSIDE.1652 (around field, in Roman capitals) Device = W.A.T. (triad of initials in Roman capitals, in field).
