The Coffee House
Charles Kiftell issued this trade token, worth a penny, for his business, a coffee house in Cheapside.
Boyne & Williamson (1889) reference London number 586; Obv inscription: CHARLES.KIFTELL (around field, in Roman capitals) Device = A hand pouring coffee into a cup (in field); Rev inscription: AT.THE.COFFEE.HOVSE (around field, in Roman capitals) Device = IN / CHEAP / SIDE / 1669 (in four lines of Roman capitals, in field).
