The George and Dragon
Edward Jarvis issued this trade token, worth a penny, for his business at the George tavern in Cheapside Market.
Boyne & Williamson (1889) reference London number 585 Obv inscription: EDWARD. IARVIS. AT. THE. GEORG (around field, in Roman capitals) Device = St George and the dragon (in field); Rev inscription: IN.CHEAPSIDE.MARKETT (around field, in Roman capitals) Device = Monogram in cyphers of 'Edward' (in field).
