Boyne & Williamson (1889) reference London number 576; Obv inscription: IOSEPH.CLIFTON (around field, in Roman capitals) Device = HIS / HALF / PENY (in field, in Roman capitals); Rev inscription: BVLL.HEAD.YARD.CHEPSIDE (around field, in Roman capitals) Device = I.C / 1663 (in two lines of Roman capitals, in field).
Bull's Head Yard, was the yard of the tavern of the same name, see tokens, NN16665 and 96.66/132 in the museum collection. Cheapside lies in Cheap Ward, Cordwainer Ward, Cripplegate Ward, the ward of Farringdon Within and Bread Street Ward, in the City of London.
