The Harrow
John Bush issued this trade token, worth a half penny, for his business at the sign of the Harrow (a farming implement), in Charter House Lane (now part of Charterhouse Street).
Boyne & Williamson (1889) reference London number 560; Obv inscription: IOHN.BVSH.AT.YE.HARROW (around field, in Roman capitals) Device = A harrow (in field); Rev inscription: IN.CHARTER.HOVSE.LANE (around field, in Roman capitals) Device = HIS / HALF / PENY (in three lines of Roman capitals, in field).
