The Three Lions
Thomas Betton issued this trade token, worth a farthing, for his business at the sign of the Three Lions in Cateaton Street (now Gresham Street).
Boyne & Williamson (1889) reference London number 482; Obv inscription: THOMAS.BETTON.AT (around field, in Roman capitals) Device = Three lions couchant (in field); Rev inscription: IN.CATTEATEN.STRET (around field, in Roman capitals) Device = T.B (in field, in Roman capitals).
Cateaton Street was amalgated with other streets to form Gresham Street in 1845.
