The Cock
John Woolrich issued this trade token, worth a farthing, for his establishment, the Cock tavern in Bow Lane, Cheapside.
Boyne & Williamson (1889) reference London number 385; Obv inscription: IOHN.WOLRICH.AT.THE (around field, in Roman capitals) Device = A cock (in field); Rev inscription: COK.IN.BOW.LANE.1652 (around field, in Roman capitals) Device - I.S.W. (triad of initials in Roman capitals, in field).
There is a similar token of a slightly earlier date in the musuem collection, 96.66/218.
