Robert East issued this trade token, worth a half penny, for his establishment, the George tavern, at Blackwall Stairs, Blackwall, Middlesex.
Boyne & Williamson (1889) reference London number 355; Obv inscription: ROBERT.EAST.AT.YE.GEORG (around field, in Roman capitals) Device = St George and the dragon (in field); Rev inscription: AT.BLACKWALL.STAIRES (around field, in Roman capitals) Device = HIS / HALF / PENY (in three lines of Roman capitals, in field).
