The Bird
Nicolas Simson issued this trade token, worth a farthing, for his business in Blackfriars.
Boyne & Williamson (1889) reference London number 348; Obv inscription: NICOLAS.SIMSON.IN (around field, in Roman capitals) Device = A collared bird on a wreath (in field); Rev inscription: BLACK.FRIERS.1659 (around field, in Roman capitals) = N.E.S. (triad of initials in Roman capitals, in field).
There are two similar token in the museum collection, NN16564 and NN16565.
