The Rainbow
This trade token, worth a farthing, was issued at the sign of the Rainbow, in Bishopsgate without, Bishopsgate Ward, City of London.
Boyne & Williamson (1889) reference London number 319; Obv inscription: AT.THE.RAINEBOWE (around field, in Roman capitals) Device = A rainbow (in field); Rev inscription: WITH.OVT.BISHOPGATE(around field, in Roman capitals) Device = E.G.R. (triad of initials in Roman capitals, in field).
