Boyne & Williamson (1889) reference London number 317; Obv inscription: IOHN.PVLLIN.HALF.MOON (around field, in Roman capitals) Device = Two men carrying a barrel (in field); Rev inscription: ALLY.WITHOVT.BISHOPGATE (around field, in Roman capitals) Device = HIS / HALFE / PENNY / I.S.P. (in four lines of Roman capitals with triad of initials as bottom, in field).
The name Half Moon relates to the Brewhouse of the same name in Bishopsgate without, see also NN16551 in the museum collection.
