The Weavers' Arms
This trade token, worth a farthing, was issued at the sign of the Three Leopards' Heads in Bishopsgate without, Bishopsgate Ward, City of London.
Boyne & Williamson (1889) reference London number 290; Obv inscription: AT.THE.3.LIBERTS.HEADS (around field, in Roman capitals) Device = The Weavers' Arms (in field); Rev inscription: WITHOVT.BISHOPSGATE (around field, in Roman capitals) Device = M.H (in field, in Roman capitals).
The arms of the Worshipful Company of Weavers are: Azure on a chevron argent between three leopards' heads each holding in the mouth a shuttle, or three roses gules (J. Bromley, The Armorial Bearings of the Guilds of London: a record of the heraldry of the surviving companies with historical notes; with...[illustrations] by Heather Child...(London, 1960).
