The Coffee House
Henry Wellington issued this trade token, worth a half penny, for his establishment, a coffee house in Bishopsgate Street (now Bishopsgate), Bishopsgate Ward, City of London.
Boyne & Williamson (1889) reference London number 261; Obv inscription: HEN. WELLINGTON. NEAR. YE. POST (around field, in Roman capitals) Device = A hand pouring coffee into a cup (in field); Rev inscription: HOVS. IN. BISHOPSGATE. STREET (around field, in Roman capitals) Device = COFFEE / HOVSE / H.W (in three lines of Roman capitals, in field).
