The Crispin and Crispianus
Richard Levet, a cordwainer (shoemaker) issued this trade token, worth a farthing, for his business in the neighbourhood of Bishopsgate, Bishopsgate Ward, City of London.
Boyne & Williamson (1889) reference London number 242; Obv inscription: AT.THE.CRISPIN.AND (around field, in Roman capitals) Device = BISHOP / GATE (in two lines of Roman capitals, in field); Rev inscription: CRISPIANVS.1653 (around field, in Roman capitals) Device = RICH / LEVET / A (in three lines of Roman capitals, in field).
