The Anchor
G.A.Bacheler issued this trade token, worth a half penny, for his business at the Anchor tavern, in Billiter Lane (now Billiter Street).
Boyne & Williamson (1889) reference London number 207; Obv inscription: G.A.BACHELER.AT.YE (in three lines of Roman capitals, in field above symbol) Device = an anchor (in field, below text); Rev inscription: IN.BILLITER.LANE.HALF.PENY.1668 (in five lines of Roman capitals, in field).
There is another similar token in the museum collection, A16523/2. Billiter Lane, now Billiter Street, is in Aldgate Ward, in the City of London.
