The Still
John Cock issued this trade token, worth a farthing, for his business in Basing Lane (now part of Cannon Street).
Boyne & Williamson (1889) reference London number 145; Obv inscription: IOHN.COCK.1666 (around field, in Roman capitals) Device = A still (in field); Rev inscription: IN.BASING.LANE (around field, in Roman capitals) Device = I.E.C. (triad of initials in Roman capitals, in field).
The issuer of this token may be ?John Cock of St Mary Aldermanbury, Draper, married Eleanor Smith 1660 d. 1670, P. Boyd roll of the Drapers' Company of London (Croydon, 1934) no. 24877.
