The Salters' Arms

Boyne & Williamson (1889) reference London number 30; Obv inscription: RICHARD.DOWLEY (around field, in Roman capitals) Device = The Salters' arms (in field); Rev inscription: NEAR ALDERSGATE (around field) Device = A chevron between 3 birds (Dowley arms) impaling Salters' arms (in field).
The arms of the Worshipful Company of Salters are: Party per chevron Azure and Gules three covered salts Argent garnished Or, the salt shedding on both sides of the salts Argent (J.
