Saxon & Medieval — Late Medieval; mid-late 15th century
Mount
Livery badge or mount of the rose of York. In the centre is an openwork rose inside a circular frame. Around the edge of the frame are trefoils and fleurs-de-lys. Supporters of the noble families fighting for power during the Wars of the Roses wore badges to show their allegiance. The rose was one of the badges of King Edward IV. Edward was from the royal house of York and his rivals came from the royal house of Lancaster.
