Hook, dockers double bag hook, wood handle
A docker's 'Bag-hook'. When unloading a cargo contained in sacks or bags, a docker would use one of these in each hand. It made lifting or gripping the cargo much easier. Hooks of the same pattern, dating back to the Roman occupation, have been found on the Thames foreshore.
