Sample jar, black haw bark sample
Sample of black haw bark imported through the London docks from the United States of America. Black haw bark is used in the medical treatment of gynecological conditions. On slave plantations, pregnant female slaves were forced to drink black haw tea in an attempt to prevent miscarriages, as child slaves were considered a valuable asset to the plantation.
