Bowl
Part of a decorated samian ware bowl, form Dragendorff 29, stamp: OF PRIMI inside base, the mark of a potter named Primus who worked at kiln sites in South Gaul. It is decorated with two friezes of continuous scrolling. The rim of this bowl was slightly distorted during manufacture, so it may have been sold as a 'second'. It was found on the Bucklersbury House excavation in the mid-1950s. Samian ware is high-quality Roman tableware made in Gaul (modern-day France) and exported throughout the empire.
