A plain samian ware dish, form Dragendorff 15/17R made at La Graufesenque, South Gaul, finished with a red glossy slip. The base is stamped OF BASSI, for the potter Bassus of La Graufesenque.
Samian ware is high-quality Roman tableware made in Gaul (modern-day France) and exported throughout the empire.
