Measure, baluster measure
A baluster measure of gill capacity with a carinated rim, flared base, flat lid, lozenge and fleur-de-lys wedge and double volute thumbpiece. The swept handle has a ball terminal. The lid is decorated with concentric turning and bears the punched inscription ‘PR PRIEST’. The rim is also inscribed: ‘PRIEST BROWN BEAR’. Found on the site of the Victoria Tower, Westminster. Dated early 18th century.
