Post-Medieval — 1682-1683; 17th century
Beaker, tumbler
This silver London-made beaker of tapering cylindrical form is stylistically similar to 17th century Dutch 'bekertjes'. This form seems to have been especially popular in East Anglia. The upper half of the beaker has been chased and embossed with a ‘guilloche’ band and naturalistic blooms. The basal edge is decorated with a profiled wire. The base of the beaker is engraved with the later inscription - ‘M T 1783’. The maker of the beaker is unknown.
