Social History — C. 1724-1745
Plate
Pewter plate probably dated first half of the 18th century. There is an ownership triad of a crowned ‘G’ over a crowned ‘TA’ on the back. Also on the back are a set hallmarks with a crowned ‘X’ and a touch of a hand holding a daisy-type flower with labels above and below inscribed ‘EDWARD’ and ‘MERRIFIELD’ by Edward Merrifield, London, OP 3199. Merrifield of Goodman’s Fields, was active from 1724 to circa 1745, possibly later (see Ricketts et. al., 2001).
