Bone, pinner's bone
Pinner's bone. Bovine metatarsal, right side, fused. Lateral and medial sides at the distal, articular end shaved off. There are four sided facets at the proximal end of the shaft, with 14 deep grooves cut into the longitudinal axis by a saw. In addition there are transverse grooves cut into each side. Bone worn through, due to repeated use. File marks. Copper salt staining. Small foramen and an enlarged hole at the proximal end.
