Stud, peltate stud
A copper-alloy peltate stud with lunate openwork decoration and incised ring-and-dot motifs. The shank on the rear face is circular sectioned and broken. Although peltate designs were common from the 2nd century AD onwards, they are known in the earlier period on studs, as an example from Kaiseraugst (Switzerland) shows.
