The pierced rivet disc from a two disc cloth seal from Valenciennes stamped with a swan and inscription around - *L*VALE… The reverse has a fine cloth weave imprint and the rivet stub has the partial stamp of the 'mark of the staple' that appears on medieval coins and weights of Valenciennes, see No.307, Fig.40, Egan, Lead Seals and Related Items in the British Museum.
