Paintings, Prints & Drawings — 1850
Crystal Palace in Hyde Park
The 'standard' view of the finished design of Crystal Palace (which was actually impossible to see). Crowds of visitors - some plainly foreigners - in the foreground. On R. men march, carrying banners and a flag (the marine code flag for the letter T?). Signed and dated. The whole building was completed in January 1851. One could date this picture to Dec 1850, but it is more likely an imagined view from an ideal angle.
