Paintings, Prints & Drawings — C. 1890
The Riverside at Limehouse
Taken from Duke Shore, this view shows the premises of George and William Lamb, mast makers of 92 Narrow Street, and Charles John Hartnoll, barge building, at number 94. On the extreme right the Two Brewers can be seen. Towards the centre of the painting are the Harbour Master's office (with flags), the headquarters of the Thames police and the Bunch of Grapes, which can just be made out in the middle distance. A large barge builder's yard is prominent among the wooden buildings characteristic of the Limehouse riverside which are seen on the right. Two barges are moored in the centre and, on the left, a tug is towing out a schooner.
