The Adelphi and the City from the River, with the Funeral Procession of Lord Nelson
While it is possible that this view includes the funeral procession of Lord Nelson, a label on the back of the painting reads: 'London circa 1800. A water pageant . . . perhaps the barges of the city . . . on the feasts of SS Simon and Jude - old Lord Mayor's Show.' The water procession only bears a slight resemblance to other portrayals of Nelson's funeral. York Water Gate and the Adelphi can be seen on the left with St. Paul's Cathedral in the distance. Part of Lambeth shore and a square shot tower can be seen on the right.
