The Tower of London from the River
The principal subject of this painting is the Tower of London's White Tower but the north-eastern turret has wrongly been depicted as square, instead of round. In front of this is St. Thomas' Tower with the Traitors' Gate just visible. Behind is the Great Armoury, or Storehouse, and on the right is one of the Ordnance buildings. Along the waterfront can be seen part of the quayside that stretched past Custom House to Queenhithe. A number of sailing vessels and smaller craft are depicted on the river.
