Old Battersea Bridge
Henry Holland's wooden Battersea Bridge of 1771-2 from Cheyne Walk. It was demolished in 1881 and replaced by the present bridge by Sir Joseph Bazalgette in 1886-90. It is shown at low tide with a laden barge on the river and a sailing barge, with lowered mast, about to go through the bridge. A sailing boat and rowing boats are on the foreshore. On the opposite bank are small houses and industrial premises. Address of the artist is written on the reverse.
