Messrs. Pott's Vinegar Manufactory, Bankside
Messrs. Pott's Vinegar Manufactory. In Southwark Library there is a large plan, (c.1850), of the vinegar manufactory. In 1840 Pott's could claim to have the largest stock in hand of any vinegar maker in England. The painting shows the factory yard when "fielding" was in progress: this was the slow method for acetic fermentation. St Paul's is visible in the background.
