Grand Staircase, Stafford House
Grand staircase of Stafford House (Lancaster House). Stafford House was completed from the designs of Benjamin Dean Wyatt in 1827 for the Marquis of Stafford, created the first Duke of Sutherland in 1833. It became one of the centres of Victorian social and political life. In 1912 it was returned to the Crown and between the wars housed the London Museum.
