Paintings, Prints & Drawings — 1829
View from near New London Bridge
By the early 19th century, old London Bridge had become dangerous and was in need of constant repair. A decision was taken to build a new crossing directly upriver of the old one to the designs of John Rennie. The old bridge remained in use until the new one was completed. This view is from the north bank, midway between the new bridge on the right and the old bridge on the left.
