Autumn term 2026 – Summer term 2027

How was London connected to the British trade in enslaved Africans? Find out in this interactive enquiry day exploring London’s role in this horrific trade and its legacy.

Develop critical thinking and evidence-based skills as students challenge the perception that Londoners’ lives were unaffected by or scarcely contributed to the trade in enslaved Africans. Students will also draw parallels between the past and modern life, examining ethical issues that are relevant today.

The day includes a guided visit to the No. 1 Warehouse and London, Sugar & Slavery galleries.

Important information

This session discusses the realities of the treatment of enslaved people across the British empire. As such, this session is aimed at year 8 and 9 groups.

Note that a minimum of 15 students aged 11 years and over are required for this session to run.
