Assembly at Stafford House in honour of Garibaldi
Assembly at Stafford House in honour of Garibaldi - cutting from Illustrated London News. Stafford House, owned at the time by the 2nd duke of Sutherland (the first duke was previously the Marquess of Stafford) was a rallying point for Whigs and liberals. (The house was renamed Lancaster House when bought by Lord Leverhulme in 1912; given to the nation by him in 1913, and home of the Museum of London until 1946).
