Stylus
An iron stylus; decorated with bronze bands.
A stylus would have been used with a writing tablet. A writing tablet contained a layer of beeswax in its wooden 'tray' which could be scratched with the sharp point of the stylus. The wax could be smoothed and re-used many times, and the flat end of the stylus was used to erase mistakes.
