Her Majesty's Theatre, London
Her Majesty's Theatre, Haymarket - the King's Theatre put up in 1791 with the colonnades added by Nash & Repton in 1816-18; renamed on Victoria's accession; burnt down in 1867. This engraving is the same as 48.11/289, which is titled "Italian Opera House": the theatre was used for opera from 1830-1851, when it lost its audience to the new Covent Garden theatre. It closed in 1890 and was replaced by the present theatre in 1897 on the northern half of the old site.
