Views of Regent Street and Regent's Park
This view shows the Outer Circle of Regent’s Park with the East Gate, the villa of Sir Herbert Taylor and St Katherine’s Hospital (now the Danish Church of St Katherine). This is probably Shepherd’s liveliest image of the park, the busy road providing him with the opportunity to depict a variety of Londoner’s at leisure. This is one of several images of the newly completed park and surrounding buildings in Shepherd’s book ‘Metropolitan Improvements’ (1827-30).
