Paintings, Prints & Drawings — 1831
St. Michael, Queen Hythe
This view from the little street called Queenhithe in the City of London ward of the same name looks across Upper Thames Street to the church of St Michael. The church was rebuilt after the Great Fire of London, but demolished in 1876 because the reduced population of the area had made it redundant. At the right of the picture, across Little Trinity Lane, is a ‘wool manufactory’, and at the left a wagon unloads packages outside a doorway marked ‘Adlard’, the premises of the stationer William Curtis Adlard at No.1 Queenhithe.
