Paintings, Prints & Drawings — C. 1827
Sessions House
The Sessions House on Clerkenwell Green held the quarter sessions court for the County of Middlesex from 1782 until 1889, after which it was used by the London County Council until 1921. It was subsequently used as the headquarters of a weighing-machines and scales manufacturer, and, from 1978, as the London Masonic Centre, until it was again sold in 2013 and redeveloped as a club and restaurant. A crowd loiters by the entrance to the session house while in the foreground street sellers do business and a man leads a donkey loaded with baskets of goods.
