Bayswater
Bayswater (seen from Kensington Gravel Pits ?) - a distant view of trees and a few rustic houses. Inscription: 'May 27 1810 Bayswater'. Possibly drawn using the Patent Graphic Telescope which was available at Varley's optical instrument shop in Tottenham Court Road and at London's artists' suppliers. As it was marketed as suitable for any person, who can make a good outline, it was aimed at amateur as well as professional artists. The idea that it was suited to landscape sketching is also found in references to the outdoor stand and its usefulness for drawing the prospect from a window.
