Fastening hook, lorica segmentata fastening hook
Copper-alloy fastening hook from plate armour, lorica segmentata, with a yellowish patina, designed to fasten the girth hoop to the shoulder pieces. Rather than being flat, as on the Corbridge examples, the end of the body is concave. The sub-rectangular sectioned neck of the object has been stretched out flat and has a bulbous terminal. There is severe dishing around the rivet holes. The object appears to have been beaten out from a rod rather than sheet.
