Strap fitting, lorica segmentata hinged strap fitting
Copper-alloy hinged strap fitting from plate armour, lorica segmentata, with a yellow patina with three (out of four) flat-headed, copper-coloured rivets in situ. The fixed element is of the usual double-thickness sheet metal and appears to have been prized off the armour itself. The free element has a rounded end.
