The Railways in Great Britain
The first railway in Britain was built in 1825, and by the 1840s the rail network had expanded enormously. This handkerchief is printed with a map of the rail network across England, Wales and Scotland as it was in the 1840s. It would have been used as both a reference item, and a souvenir commemorating the technological marvel of railway travel.
