Alphabet of Birds
This handkerchief is printed with an alphabet, and an illustration of a bird corresponding to each letter of the alphabet. Natural history was considered a suitable and useful subject for children to learn in the 19th century, and a handkerchief of this sort would probably have been used for educational or reference purposes.
